“Ko Kahuranaki te maunga, ko Poukawa te moana, ko Ngati Te Rangikoianake te Iwi”.  Most speakers on the Kahuranaki marae use this expression.  In the times of Te Hapuku his name was linked with that of the mountain and the lake.  “Ko Kahuranaki te maunga, ko Poukawa te moana, ko Te Hapuku te tangata”.  Both expressions are commonly used by orators of this area.
